This website consists mainly of talks and reviews I have given since retiring as Professor and Head of Film Studies in 2009. The subjects are predominantly film-related, though I also hope to include occasional pieces on other passions of mine, such as literature and music. The primary aim is to entertain and\/or inform, and I hope the material included is accessible to anyone (academic or otherwise) with a general broad interest in the topics.<\/p>\n

I am indebted for the website\u2019s existence to Dr David Rolinson of Stirling University, a brilliant former research student and teaching colleague of mine, and a steadfast friend. He has been instrumental in setting it all up and I am deeply grateful for his expertise, diligence and support.<\/p>\n
